Welcome to Therapet

Therapet Foundation's mission is to utilize specially trained and certified animals for the betterment of mankind by promoting health, hope and healing.

We accomplish this mission by:

  • Establishing & communicating standards of practice for use of specially trained animals in the healthcare setting.
  • Providing education to health care professionals and facility leaders.
  • Educating communities on opportunities and benefits of Animal Assisted Therapy.
  • Training, certifying, and assuring competency of human/animal volunteer teams.
The Executive Director of Therapet, Shari Bernard-Curran, is a registered Occupational Therapist. She began utilizing Animal Assisted Therapy with her patients 25 years ago and has been named the Leading Expert in AAT by Town and Country Magazine.
Therapet currently has 85 dogs, 3 cats and 8 miniature horses working in the East Texas program and has established programs in many states including Montana, Hawaii, New York, Florida, New Mexico, Arizona, Virginia and Louisiana. Check out our videos, book and upcoming seminars.
Therapet Foundation establishes goal oriented therapy programs with these animals. They do far more than just visiting patients.
We depend on donations to operate our non profit organization.
 We appreciate your support!
