Outstanding Service Awards
Each year, the Therapet Foundation hosts an Awards dinner to honor all the animals and volunteers that make this organization function throughout the year. At the time, a small group of animals and humans receive special recognition for exceptional service.
Therapet Visitation Animal of the Year 2007-2008
"George" Owned and Trained by Sherry Guinn- Sherry and George volunteer at many of the hospitals in East Texas as well as Special Needs Camps throughout the year. George is a gentle, calm Golden Retriever that loves being petted and held. We are blessed to have this fantastic volunteer team in Therapet!
Therapet Therapy Animal of the Year- 2007-2008
"Tessa"- CH. The Trouble with Tessa, UDX, RAE, Owned and trained by Kathy Carlson DVM
Tessa is an amazing French Bulldog. She was Kathy's first dog to train however this team has competed in many aspects of obedience, rally, and agility competitions and is rank number #1 among Frenchies in the country. Tessa has done Therapy work most of her life and excels at working with patients in therapy. We are so glad to have Tessa and Kathy's three other Frenchies active in Therapet.
Volunteer of the Year- Janie Malone
Janie Malone has been a volunteer with her catahoula, Gumbeaux for several years. In addition, Janie volunteers on the Blessing of the Animals committee, and the fundraising committee. It is hard to remember when Janie was not a part of Therapet. Her spirit motivates everyone around her and she is a joy to know!
